John Frieda - 3 Day Straight Review

Hello Lovelies (:

Today's post is all about John Frieda Frizz-Ease 3-Day Straight spray.

What John Frieda says about it (on the box):

"Transform curly, frizzy hair into a straight, smooth style that lasts up to 3 days.* Introducing Frizz-Ease 3-Day Straight Semi-Permanent Styling Spray. Our revolutionary heat-activated formula with keratin protein wraps each strand to seal in longer-lasting straightness without weighing it down. Protects against heat damage and blocks frizz."

"Directions: Spray throughout DAMP OR WET, not dry hair. Start with 7-15 sprays. Use more or less depending on amount of curl, length and thickness. Comb to distribute evenly and blow-dry hair straight. Finish by using HAIR STRAIGHTENERS in sections."

I bought this not long after I had my fringe cut in as I have curly, frizzy hair and in this wintery weather the fringe wasn't staying straight. I straighten my hair fairly often and have done for years, since I discovered GHDs anyway! I find that because my hair is so frizzy that even after straightening it, it will go frizzy in the rainy air especially where I have layers. So in a desperate situation I picked up this product from Boots, it was on 3 for 2 so picked up a few other things aswell.

I followed the instructions and sprayed it onto my wet hair, along with the other products I use, and then blow dried and straightened it. It didn't leave my hair feeling heavy or looking greasy but I didn't find that it kept the frizz away like I had hoped it would, in the rainy air, so I was a bit disappointed. A couple of washes later and I decided to give it a second chance. So again I followed the instructions, concentrating on the areas that tended to get frizzy, but once again it didn't keep the frizz at bay! The rain and my hair just don't mix!

As for keeping my hair straight for three days I'm not convinced either. I've always found using my GHD's that my hair stays fairly straight anyway until my next wash, I do have to run the straighteners over my hair the next day but only quickly. I didn't find that using this product kept it any straighter. Perhaps this would be good for non GHD users, I'm not sure. All I know is that this product left me disappointed and still on the hunt for a product that keeps my frizz at bay in the rainy weather.

Do you have any product recommendations that would help?

Thank you for reading

  1. I've found Kérastase's Nectar Thermique to be very helpful with keeping frizz at bay. It's not the cheapest product around but you only need to use the tiniest amount so a little goes a very long way :) x

  3. I have the same problem! I use the Nectar Thermique and it does work really well. Also i use the L'Oreal Techniart loss control and that seems to keep my hair really smooth :-)
